What is a Montessori school?
As Maria Montessori, founder of the Montessori education system, put it: “Education is not something which the teacher does, but a natural process which develops spontaneously in each human being.” When you enroll your children in a Montessori school, you’re not just sending them off to learn, you’re actively helping them to build self-confidence and achieve a passion for learning. Through nontraditional exploratory learning, we engage each individual learner and build positive social skills they can tap into throughout their life.
Who was Maria Montessori?
Maria Montessori was an Italian innovator, physician and educator at the turn of the century who developed an insightful educational method that builds on how children actually learn. By providing young children with puzzles, teaching them independence in meal preparation and having them manipulate materials that held lessons in math, she was able to document real social and knowledge advancement. While the materials have changed somewhat over time, the same methodology is intact today. At BellaVision Montessori School, we offer children unparalleled opportunities to interact with their peers in positive ways, gain independence in their activities, and develop confidence in their creative and cognitive abilities.
The Importance of Nature-Based Play
Maria Montessori believed that all children thrive best when they have access to stimulating environments. We’ve taken that same theory to the outside world. By offering children learning through hands-on, real-life experience in the natural world, we foster a love for positive social interactions with others and compassion for living things and their habitats, allowing them to feel the awe, wonder and joy that the world around them offers. While your children experience the outdoors, our seasoned instructors will constantly be supervising them and helping them practice the art of questioning. “Why is this here?”, “What does this do?”, and “How did this grow?” are just some of the critical questioning skills we help to develop in children and, by doing so, help them to build a strong connection to their natural environment and the stewardship of it.
See Your Children Thrive
At BellaVision Montessori School, we aim to see your children thrive. By engaging them in fun, exciting and intellectually stimulating lessons, hands-on activities and various independent learning opportunities, we build the foundations for deeper thinking and positive communication skills. We believe every child is unique and has a one-of-a-kind way of interacting with the world; by building on their strengths, we help them achieve independence and take responsibility for what they learn each day.
